Where is the UFI Code Used?
The first step when creating a UFI code is determine whether it is subject to this obligation.
The obligation to obtain a UFI code within the scope of Article 45 of the CLP regulation and Annex VIII is for products within the scope of CLP and mixtures with a physical or health hazard classification.
In accordance with annex VIII of the CLP Regulation, importers and downstream users must:
- Creation of a unique Formula Identifier (UFI) to be specified to the label of hazardous mixtures and/or added to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
- Submission of harmful mixture files in PCN format to the authority appointed by each Member State.
- Adding the UFI code to the product label and Safety Data Sheet.
- Sending the PCN file to ECHA or directly to the designated institutions of the member states with the product information specified in the regulation.
