What are PFAs?
Containing more than 4,700 chemicals, perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of commonly used man-made chemicals that accumulate in the human body and the environment over time. They are also called "everlasting chemicals" because they are so persistent in our environment and in our bodies. These substances can cause health problems such as liver damage, thyroid disease, obesity, fertility problems and cancer.
