Safe Storage and Handling of Chemicals Training
To pay much more attention to the correct classification, storage and use of chemicals, is a difficult theme. The majority of work-related accidents in laboratories of chemicals take place due to improper storage, and use.
Hazardous chemicals should be stored under conditions specific to their inherent properties and characteristics to ensure safety and in accordance with established criteria. Accurate classification at storage should be in the form of easily flammable and flammable, corrosive (abrasive), non-toxic, very toxic, oxidizing, cryogenic materials, explosives, compressed gases. This should not be classified in alphabetical order.
At this point, Material Safety Data Sheets of chemical materials (MSDS / SDS) to be referenced to continue our work. Employers should use chemical safety data sheets, along with information specific to the workplace, as a basis for the preparation of instructions to workers, which should be in writing if appropriate. All workers should be trained in proper chemical storage and disposal procedures and know what to do for first aid and emergencies.
Regarding safe handling, it’s essential that all employees working with chemicals have to be informed about personal protective equipment and safe handling methods which should be used in line with the potential hazard of substance to human health and the environment.
